We have chosen to raise funds for Emmanuel International (EI) and TEAR Australia because we believe in the work that they do. It's the type of work that you want to see happen—local, holistic, people-centered, impartial, empowering, life-giving, and sustainable over the long haul!
Everyone can do something about injustice in the world
School well restoration, EI Malawi 2014
We've chosen to support Emmanuel International and TEAR Australia because of:
1. the way they do their work—their programs are conducted by local staff and local organizations, meaning the greatest and most culturally
appropriate work is done.
2. their commitment to women’s empowerment through community development programs. When women and girls are given a fair go at life, communities and countries experience higher levels of economic
development, disaster resilience, and lower levels of armed conflict.
3. their financial transparency and stewardship of funds.
4. how they serve people regardless of religion, colour, gender, race, or age and seek to bring social inclusion for those on the fringes.
5. their work is done as a labour of love.
Funds raised in Canada and US will be going to Emmanuel International's PROMISE project. PROMISE (PROmoting Maternal, newborn, Infant and child Sustainable health Efforts) aims to reduce maternal and child mortality in Malawi by improving the delivery and use of essential health services to mothers, pregnant women, newborns and children under five and increase their consumption of nutritious foods and supplements.

Emmanuel International (EI) is an international, non-profit, Christian organization that assists communities worldwide by assisting local churches within these communities to meet the needs of their neighbours.
It attends to the needs of the whole person: social, physical, emotional and spiritual. Regardless of race, gender or religion, EI staff works alongside the people of the communities in which they work, bringing aid and personal care into towns, villages and homes. Its programs aim to build the self-reliance and dignity of those involved.
They remain at the grass roots to meet basic needs in the community, using simple technology that is easy to replicate and maintain. EI is a registered charity and donations from Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom are tax-deductible.
TEAR Australia is a movement of Christians in Australia responding to the needs of poor communities around the world. Their, and our, motivation comes from our belief that God loves all people, is just, and has particular care for the poor and those who suffer as victims of injustice. They partner with grassroots organizations involved with development, relief and advocacy projects which focus on the poorest and most marginalized people and give priority to their rights, interests, needs and capacities.
Of TEAR Australia’s overall income, 7% covers administrative costs, 5% is spent on fundraising, and 88% is spent on the international and domestic development programs, and empowering people within Australia to respond to poverty and injustice. It is a registered charity with the ACNC. Donations of $2 or more to TEAR Australia are tax-deductible in Australia.
